The flat roof of a single storey extension became a beautiful terrace at a Boxford home in the Lambourn Valley, with the professional service of Rooftek Advance. Nadeem Haider explains how the transformation took place. “We had planning permission to turn the flat roof into a terrace balcony and we needed a protective flooring and balustrades for the 28 metres perimeter, which needed to be weathered to prevent the ingress of water. “It was quite a specialist job, and it was initially difficult to find someone who knew what they were doing, and we actually found Rooftek on Google. They came up promptly, had case studies and the website was user-friendly and gave us confidence to move forward. “The team that came were brilliant, really considerate and before they even came inside, they had special coverings on their feet, recognising that they may need to go up and down the stairs to reach the roof and didn’t want to make the carpet dirty. That was just the start, right throughout, they were really considerate. And I think the other thing was, they were really approachable. They explained what they were going to do. And turned out to actually be really, really good, really. I mean, you do sometimes get a bad experience with people doing work, but we were so impressed with Rooftek.

With buckets and a baby bath collecting rainwater inside a self-contained flat at her Camberley home, Jill Everest called Rooftek to the rescue, creating a stunning roof terrace in the process. Jill explains more: “When we first moved into our house, we decided my parents would come and live with us and we built a complete unit for them, a one-story self-contained extension at the back of our home. There's a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom in there, quite a nice sized one bed flat. The flat roof also provides me with a first-floor terrace area adjoined to the main house. “After 52 years of being here, the flat roof was leaking really, really badly. So, I decided with my children, we’d need to have the roof of the flat completely replaced, to keep the fabric of the main home and the flat in good condition. “So, my daughter and I set to work on finding a suitable flat roofing firm, we really looked at lots, as many as we could. We narrowed it down to a few local ones, and then having phoned one or two, we realised that they were too small a company for what we wanted done. Then we rang Rooftek who seemed to be the right size, and we met Leigh, Managing Director of Rooftek, and that was enough, that was it, we knew that Rooftek were the roofing company for us. “We had to go on a big learning curve. My late husband would not have anyone in, to do anything in our house. It was a big learning curve for me, and we did very well with Rooftek. We liked Leigh, and his team, and we saw the job we wanted, and we thought the price was absolutely fine, very good value overall.

Rooftek were the flat roof specialists of choice for Jack Sheffield of Surrey construction firm Sheffbuild when it came to putting on a 150-metre-square flat roof on his own new build home in West Horley. Here Jack takes up the story. “This was the final roof covering for a new build I am building for myself. We’ve been living in a bungalow for two years awaiting planning permission and are finally on schedule to finish early next summer. The roof system takes us forward and means the property is dry now and we can crack on. “I run a small construction company so I couldn't be poised better for it, really, but I think it's comparable to like having young kids. An absolute joy, but then it's a lot of hard work too and you learn plenty!
